This report illustrates the typical weather in Chengshan, based on a statistical analysis of historical hourly weather reports and model reconstructions from January 1, 1980 to December 31, 2016.

Temperature and Dew Point

There are 2 weather stations near enough to contribute to our estimation of the temperature and dew point in Chengshan.

For each station, the records are corrected for the elevation difference between that station and Chengshan according to the International Standard Atmosphere , and by the relative change present in the MERRA-2 satellite-era reanalysis between the two locations.

The estimated value at Chengshan is computed as the weighted average of the individual contributions from each station, in addition to a contribution from the MERRA-2 reconstruction, corrected for the difference between the reference elevation of the MERRA-2 grid cell and the elevation of Chengshan.

The station weigths are proportional to the inverse of the distance between Chengshan and a given station.

The weight assigned to the MERRA-2 value depends on the distance from Chengshan to the nearest station, increasing from 0% at 150 kilometers to 100% at 200 kilometers. In this case, the MERRA-2 weight is 48%.

The stations contributing to this reconstruction are: Paengnyongdo Ab (26%, 197 kilometers, east) and Dalian Zhoushuizi International Airport (26%, 199 kilometers, northwest).
